How I got the name
Happy Hour became what it is because it is essentially my happy hour. After work (8pm-4am) my friends would all go out for drinks and invite me along. Having three dogs and a house full of pigs all I want to do was get home to them. I have cages to clean, water bottles to fill, and pigs to brush, not to mention dogs to walk. For me this is my relaxation. This is my happy hour. As a joke I named a pig after an alcoholic beverage and it just kinda stuck. Now there are mostly alcohol related, and I'm the only one who can show up at work the next day, and can say I woke up without a hangover headache!
My piggy start
I always had pets as a kid. But when I moved out on my own I was finally able to do things my way. I wanted pets. And lots of them. Nancy Nichols sold me a little red american boar and I went from there. That silly little boar (now called Fruit) lives with my friends daughter and I still see him now and then (RIP Fruit has crossed the rainbow bridge). I've moved on to Silver solids, Blacks, Golden Agouti's, and Dilute agouti's as my main american breeds with a few other pigs thrown in for good measure. Then I got my fist Silkie From Faith Cramer. Strawberry Dac. Lived with me for a while then went to the same friends daughter. Long Hair's were a bit much from her and the little red and white sow came back to me with a name change of Bad Hair Day.... it was so cute and fitting for the sow that we kept it that way (RIP Bad Hair Day has crossed the rainbow bridge). Then last spring I got my first Texel from Rehanna in PA. In three show's I got two BOB and a BIS with that little sow. I was hooked. Now I've got my two main breeds in American's and Texels.
